Port of Fujairah is the only multi-purpose port on the Eastern seaboard of the United Arab Emirates, approximately 70 nautical miles from the Straits of Hormuz. The Management contacted VIP’s approved applicator searching for a long term surface protection system to provide long-term corrosion protection for the substructure and superstructure of one of their offshore terminals.

The environmental conditions with agressive salty air, intense UV exposure and high humidity imply immense hardships for the steel and concrete surfaces. To protect the assets and to minimize downtime VIP’s applicator was given the task to develop a system solution which meets all requirements including the challenging overhead coating of the slab areas.

The VIP system solution based on the very fast curing elastomer coating of the QuickSeal PP350 range. This formulation features a high resistance against salty air as well as agressive liquids and maintains its physical properties under a vast range of environmental conditions including intensive UV radiation. Supervized by the experienced VIP technicians the application teams finished the job quick, efficient and without any problems to the customer’s complete satisfaction.

Preperation and Application steps:
1. Substrate preperation (Repair of any damages, cracks, imperfections on the concrete blocks)
2. Priming with VIP QuickPrime
3. Application of aromatic Polyurea QuickSeal PP350 with hot spray equipment
