One of our key customers is manufacturing fender solutions for all kinds of vessels Their fenders are made from foam, and are significantly lighter than traditional alternatives — without compromising strength. A fender is a protective structure designed to prevent damage to the outer hull of a ship during harbor maneuvers, for example, against a quay wall or another vessel. Fenders are usually located between a ship and a quay wall or pier, and serve both as shock absorbers and as spacers to prevent friction on the hull.
In this case the fender is fitted on the vessel for optimum performance. VIP coatings were used as a final colour stable protective coating that will significantly extend the colour stability and service life of the fender. Our customer is using premium closed-cell foam, and an aliphatic Polyurea system so these fenders deliver enhanced buoyancy and stability, a key advantage in SAR operations where vessel performance and safety are paramount.
Our aliphatic coating solutions help protecting custom-built fender systems that are specifically engineered to meet these demands, offering superior buoyancy, durability, and adaptability — when it matters most.
